Does male wrestling practice include sock wrestling?
I joined my college’s male wrestling team and we have practice twice a week. During our first practice session, the coach had us do something that I last did as a kid in school: sock wrestling. He had us all take off our shoes and then crawl around on a mat, trying to take both of the other guy’s socks. The last guy who still had on at least one sock won. It felt pretty juvenile for most of us, as we wrestled for each others sweaty, smelly socks, so I’m just wondering: is this standard wrestling practice and what’s the point of doing this?
It can help teach you tactics for getting opponents on the ground so it isn’t juvenile. It could help your game and give you vital experience. Furthermore, your coach knows how to coach, dont questions their methods, because they know what to do to get a winning team (well most of them do).
