How has the internet affected you as a wrestling fan?
Has the information overload helped or hurt? The internet is the world’s largest encyclopedia but in the search for knowledge you come across things about wrestling you wished you hadn’t found.
There are also things such as chat rooms, spoiler sites, promotions’ official websites, Yahoo!Answers, and email to consider when writing your answer.
Has the internet made you a smarter, more knowledgeable fan with it’s easy access to history, information, and wrestling matches from all over the world?
Or has the internet soured you on wrestling and made you jaded?
How has the internet affected you as a wrestling fan?
Its been both good and bad. Good, because at anytime you can access info on anyone and anything. Sonjay Dutt, who is that? And 10 seconds later you know all about them. So its nice to be able to know all about different companies and wrestlers from all over the world. Before we traded VHS tapes lol, now its much easier to be a worldwide fan, and thats only a good thing to me. Plus now we have places to come together and share our passion and whatever knowledge we can with others. And its nice to get online and BOOM you know when you can catch a show in your area, or any other event like autograph signings, appearances, etc. But on the other hand it has its flaws too. Spoilers and rumors run rampant, even if your not looking for them, just being on a site such as this one, your going to see things you wouldnt want to know. And honestly it does get a little tiresome, trying to trade opinions and views with people who blindly hate whatever for ignorant reasons, and then theres always people who want to, sometimes incessantly, share such highly regarded opinions like “TNA (or WWE) SUX!”. I get it, people are entitled like different things, but its hard to argue or talk with people who have nothing to back up their posts and opinions. For example, I know not everyone is going to have the same opinion of Hulk Hogan that I do, but “Hogan is old” or “Hulk is a WWE reject” isnt a very validating reason to not like the guy IMO. Has he held down talent before, has he not always done the right thing in this business? I will admit it, yes he has. But honestly how many times will I get a reason like that in an argument about him? Slim to none lol.
