What would be a good pair of wrestling shoes for me?
I’m 5′6” 135lbs don’t know if that matters and I have a partial bias for adidas and asics
Asics and Adidas have the majority of the market in the amateur wrestling world. If you haven’t been able to try any out prior to now, just look for a mid-range pair and see how they work. Adidas are typically going to last longer than Asics. Wrestling shoes are going to vary with each model where the biggest difference is going to be the sole placement.

How far does the sole go up the side of the shoe
Plan to spend anywhere from $40 (sale price) to about $70 on a pair of shoes. Don’t look at $100+ shoes as they aren’t going to benefit you right now.
Some of the lightest Adidas shoes are the Response, you will also get long life from these as my daughter is going on 2 years with these. A nice set for these Asics are the Cael V3.0 but only plan on being able to use these for 1-1.5 years if you do year round wrestling (my son is on his second pair of these). Both of these models are split sole shoes.
Look at the on-line supply houses as they have some good deals going on right now.
