Pimp My Ride vs Top Gear: Kings of Car Culture
Since Henry Ford gave rise to the internal combustion engine, petrol heads from around the world have worshiped the car.
Car culture expresses itself in many ways, there are a lot of magazines that cover all sorts of topics like car racing, off-roading and classic cars, while on TV two of the most influential shows currently on our screens are T `op Gear and Pimp My Ride.
Top Gear is a long race, BBC awarded on cars, and has been running since 1977. In recent years it has become most peculiar and humorous and as such attracts a wide following about 8 million weekly viewers in the UK and an estimated 350 million viewers worldwide. But perhaps the greatest achievement of Top Gear is its great attraction, a large part of their viewers are not car enthusiasts. The show is presented by the so arrogant, "said Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond (nicknamed The Hamster by his co-presenters) James May – a well spoken, long-haired hippie type, and The Stig – a mysterious racing driver whose identity is unknown to the public and never speaks or removes his helmet.
The U.S. program "Pimp My Ride," which is produced by MTV has also achieved widespread fame. Presented by rapper Xzibit, the idea behind program is to bring old cars, equality, and give a complete review of request. While mechanical failures are repaired to allow the car to run, the "pimping" the vehicle is largely cosmetic, the body is given a brand new paint job often including striking features as "stripes go fast "and hot rod flames. There is also substantial requirements for car interiors, which are usually tailored to meet particular interests or hobbies owner, such as a bowler bowling was a special ball washer installed in the trunk, and a surfer got a clothes dryer fitted in the back of his truck.
The show has been very successful both in the U.S. and around the world and has led dozens of subsidiaries worldwide, for example in the UK (presented hip-hop DJ Tim Westwood), Italy, Germany, Brazil, and even an Arabic version which translates to "Enjoy your car!"
Both Top Gear and Pimp My Ride are important parts of the car culture media that continue to inspire petrolheads worldwide, and in addition to online communities car, engine Internet blogs and forums, these programs are an important part of a billion pound industry Multiple car.
